The city of Ridgefield is looking for residents interested in joining the salary commission, civil service commission, planning commission and the parks board, or serving as the city’s liaison to the Clark County Arts Commission.The Salary Commission a five-member volunteer commission that reviews and establishes the salaries of the mayor and the council members. Commission members meet as often as necessary to file a schedule with the city clerk on or before May 31 to coincide with the city budget cycle. Eligible applicants must be a registered voter and a resident of the city or within the city’s adopted urban growth area for at least one year immediately preceding an appointment.The Civil Service Commission is a three-member volunteer commission that advises on how examinations are held as well as on appointments, promotions and other matters connected with personnel administration of the police department. Commission members must attend meetings at 6:30 p.m. the second Tuesday of each month. Eligible members must be United States citizens and residents of Ridgefield for at least one year immediately preceding their appointment, and an electorate of Clark County.The Planning Commission is made up of seven volunteers who advise the city council on planning, development and growth issues for the community. Members make recommendations on updates to the city’s comprehensive plan, capital facilities plans, and development code regulations. Commission members serve four-year terms and hold meetings at 6:30 p.m. the first Wednesday of each month. Eligible applicants must reside in city limits.The Parks Board is comprised of seven volunteers who advise the city council on parks planning, acquisition, operations and maintenance within the current and future city limits of Ridgefield. Board members serve a three-year term and must attend meetings at 6:30 p.m. the second Wednesday of each month. The board is open to residents, property owners and business owners within the urban growth area of the city and citizens residing within the boundaries of the Ridgefield School District.
